From the very beginning, devotion flowed naturally through the life of Shri Hit Mahaprabhu Ji. It is said that the very first word to emerge from his lips was
“Shri Radha.”
Not a sound learned, but a truth was remembered.
When Mahaprabhu Ji returned to his home in Deoband, the worship of Shri Radha Mohan Ji was already well established in his household. His father, Shri Vedavyas Ji, considering him too young, did not allow him to perform formal service. Yet the child would stand outside, motionless and absorbed, gazing upon Shri Radha Mohan Ji with overflowing emotion.
The name of Radha never left his lips.
Shri Radha. Shri Radha.
His friends invited him to play, but his heart was elsewhere. When they said, “We will play whatever you wish,” he agreed.
And so his games became divine.
He transformed his companions into Radha and Krishna themselves, seeing the dark complexioned child as Radha Rani and the fair one as Thakur Ji.
In these simple childhood moments, Radha Mohan manifested through love.
Thus, immersed in devotion, he grew.
One day, his father asked him to go inside and gently fan the Lord. As Mahaprabhu Ji performed this service, his inner vision opened. He found himself in the nikunj, the sacred grove, in the presence of Shri Radha Mohan Ji.
With folded hands and a trembling heart, he prayed,
“Please sing a raga. Please recite a divine verse.”
Overcome with divine emotion, he lost awareness of the outer world. Shri Radha Mohan Ji were deeply pleased and said,
“Go now. Behind your house, near the well, Shri Navrangilal is waiting for you.”
Without hesitation, Mahaprabhu Ji ran to the well and leapt in.
People from nearby villages gathered in alarm, crying out,
“What has happened. Harivansh has fallen into the well.”
But this was no fall.
It was a revelation.
From the well emerged Shri Hit Mahaprabhu Ji, carrying Shri Navrangilal Prabhu Ji with him, bringing devotion into visible form.
Even today, this divine pastime continues to awaken love and surrender in the hearts of devotees.
